Eating off my Kid’s Plate
I’ve heard about moms not taking good care of themselves, putting all energy into their children. A common example of this in food preparations – how moms eat the leftovers from their kid’s plate (let’s face it, often untouched) instead of preparing meals for themselves. But having always been a grazer, myself, I actually find myself often enjoying picking appealing leftovers from her plate.
But now, I’m pregnant. Again. And having experienced all too many times the stupid reasons and small risks that can end a pregnancy, I’m not taking any chances! My kid plays with other kids all day, and I’m sure is exposed to all kinds of children’s viruses, which may or may not affect an unborn child. So, I must stop eating the good stuff…
Goodbye, half a hardboiled egg. So long, orange wedges. Fare-thee-well toast points with peanut butter. I’m missing you already, feeling the itch to reach for you as I tidy up from supper, and sorry to see all this waste.
Although, sometimes I can alleviate this wasteful feeling. For instance, apple slices can be rinsed and cooked for a delicious result. Beware of my apple pancakes, or oatmeal cookies or bread pudding with bits of apples…
How do you deal with the waste?
